1Accepting these Terms
Shield & Shred is made by MC Media, an independent game developer based in Israel (“we”, “us”).
When you choose a name and tap NEXT on the Welcome screen, you accept these Terms. The game says so under the name field: “By choosing a name you accept the Terms”. If you don't accept them, please don't play.
These Terms cover the Android game Shield & Shred, version 2.0 and later, and this website. Google Play's own terms also apply when you download the game and pay through Google Play. How we handle your data is in the Privacy policy.
2Who may play
You must be 13 or older to play. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you need a parent's or guardian's OK before you buy anything in the game.
3Your account
- It is anonymous. The game makes your account the first time you open it, with no email or password, and keeps it tied to your phone.
- Link Google to keep it. In Settings → Google account you can link a Google account, so you keep your game when you change phones. If you lose your phone, reset it or uninstall the game, an account that is not linked to Google may be lost, and we cannot bring it back for you.
- Switching games. If the Google account you link already has a game, the game offers to switch to it. Switching deletes the game on this phone.
- It is yours alone. Don't sell, buy or share accounts.
- It needs the internet to sign in and settle fights. A few fights can be played offline.
- Deleting is permanent. You can delete your account at any time, and it cannot be undone. See Delete your account.
4Name rules
Your name is public: other players see it on RANK and, when it is switched on, the DAMAGE board. A name is 3 to 12 letters (A–Z) or digits, starts with a letter, has at most 4 digits and shows in capitals. Names don't have to be unique, and you can change yours in Profile.
Your name must not contain or suggest:
- Hate or slurs against anyone, for their race, ethnicity, religion, nationality, gender, sexuality or disability.
- Harassment or bullying of anyone.
- Sexual content.
- Impersonation of another person, of our staff or of the game. Names such as ADMIN, SUPPORT, OFFICIAL and GOOGLE are blocked.
- Personal details, yours or anyone else's, such as a phone number, an address or someone's full name.
- Links, ads or promotion of anything.
The game blocks some words automatically, but that doesn't make every other name OK. Spelling tricks, like digits in place of letters, count too.
5Reporting a name
- In the game: tap or long-press a player's row on RANK (or DAMAGE, when it is switched on). A sheet reminds you that “Names must follow the Terms”. Tap REPORT NAME, and the game answers THANKS · WE'LL TAKE A LOOK.
- By email: send the name and where you saw it (RANK or DAMAGE, and the league) to support@media-mc.com.
Reports are anonymous: the reported player is never told who reported them. We review reports, but we can't promise a reply or a time frame. Please report only names that break the rules above.
6What we do about it
When a name or a player breaks these Terms, we may:
- clear the name and lock it;
- remove the account from every leaderboard;
- delete the account;
- add words to the list of blocked names.
We choose what fits the case. On clear abuse we may act without notice. If you think we got it wrong, email us.
7Fair play
Play the game as it comes from Google Play. Don't:
- use a modified, hacked or copied version of the game;
- use bots, scripts, macros or any other automation;
- interfere with our servers, or try to read or change other players' data;
- use a bug to get ahead (please report it to us instead).
Our server checks every result and caps results that are not possible, and the game checks that it is the genuine app on a genuine device. Cheating can mean removal from the leaderboards or deletion of the account.
8Purchases and virtual items
What you can buy
- Coins, in six sizes.
- Card pack bundles: 25 × 10x packs (no level needed), 15 × 100x packs (once any of your titans reaches level 25) and 10 × 1000x packs (once any of your titans reaches level 50).
Crystals are never sold. Card packs are not sold for real money in some countries, such as Belgium.
What you get
Coins, crystals, cards, packs, titans, items and everything else in the game are a licence to use them in the game, not property. They have no cash value, and they cannot be sold, transferred, traded or exchanged for money or for anything outside the game.
Paying
Google Play shows the price in your currency, takes the payment and handles refunds under its own terms. We never see your card. To ask for a refund, see Google Play's refund help.
Refunds and chargebacks
If a purchase is refunded or charged back, we take back what it gave:
- Coins are taken from your balance, down to 0. Whatever is left becomes a debt, and your later earnings (fights, the Bank, ads and other rewards) pay it off first.
- A card pack: you keep its cards. Its crystal value is taken back the same way: from your crystals down to 0, and the rest becomes a debt.
While a debt stands, the Shop's buy buttons for real money are hidden.
Buying is blocked after one refund or chargeback you ask for on a card pack, or on a coin pack of 1,300,000 coins (US$13.90) or more, or after two refunds or chargebacks of any purchase. Refunds we make ourselves and Google's automatic refunds take the value back too, but they never count toward this.
If we cannot credit a purchase (for example while buying is blocked, while a debt stands, or before a pack's titan level is reached), we don't acknowledge it, and Google Play refunds it to you automatically after 3 days.
Deleting your account
Deleting your account removes everything you bought, without a refund from us.
9Card pack odds
Every pack uses the same odds, bought or earned. Nothing you buy changes them. A pack is rolled when you get it; opening it only shows it. In the game, tap the i beside any pack to see these odds.
- A pack holds 5 to 9 stacks of titan cards, each for a different titan. A pack never repeats a titan.
- The first stack goes to your favourite titan (or the titan you have out).
- Each other stack picks a rarity, with an equal chance for every rarity open to you, then a titan in that rarity, with an equal chance for each titan not already in the pack. If every titan of a rarity is already in the pack, that rarity drops out and the others share its chance equally.
- Every card count in a stack's range is equally likely.
Chance of each rarity, per stack
These chances hold for each stack while every open rarity still has a titan left for this pack.
| Rarity | Below City Hall 10 | City Hall 10–24 | City Hall 25+ |
|---|---|---|---|
| Normal | 50% | 33.3% | 25% |
| Rare | 50% | 33.3% | 25% |
| Unique | not open yet | 33.3% | 25% |
| Mythic | not open yet | not open yet | 25% |
A dash means that rarity is not open yet. Unique titans open at City Hall 10, and Mythic titans at City Hall 25.
Cards in each stack
| Pack | Cards per stack |
|---|---|
| 1x | 2 to 10 |
| 10x | 20 to 100 |
| 100x | 200 to 1,000 |
| 1000x | 2,000 to 10,000 |
More about packs, and where to earn them, is in the card packs guide.
10Ads
Ads in the game are optional rewarded videos. You choose to watch one to get the reward shown on its button: DOUBLE LOOT after a Classic fight, help with a LEVEL UP, or 30 minutes off a building timer. The reward is given once Google confirms the ad was watched. You can watch up to 40 ads a day. How ads use data is in the Privacy policy.
11Changes to the game and these Terms
We keep working on the game. We may change, rebalance, add or end features, items and rewards at any time, and some changes come with an app update.
When these Terms change, we post the new version here with a new version number and date, and we announce important changes in the game. If you keep playing after a new version is posted, it applies to you. If you don't agree with it, you can stop playing and delete your account.
12Our game, your screenshots
Shield & Shred, its titans, art, music, text and code belong to MC Media or its licensors. You may share screenshots and videos of your own play. Don't copy, sell or reverse-engineer the game, except where the law allows it.
13Disclaimers and liability
We work hard to keep the game running and fair, but it is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the extent the law allows:
- we don't promise the game will always be available, free of bugs or kept running forever;
- we are not responsible for losses you could not have expected, or for losing an account that was never linked to Google;
- our total liability to you is limited to what you paid for purchases in the game in the 12 months before your claim.
Nothing in these Terms limits rights that consumer law gives you, or any liability that the law does not allow us to limit.
14Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Israel, and the courts of Israel can hear disputes about them. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protection of its mandatory laws and can also go to your local courts.
